Network Diagram Software
Network Diagram Software
To design and document the cyber café network topology, a reliable and easy-to-use network diagramming tool is required. The diagram must clearly represent the logical structure of the network, including the internet connection, core and access switches, end-user devices, servers, and security components such as CCTV and management systems.
For this project, draw.io (also known as diagrams.net) was selected as the primary network diagram software. draw.io is a free, web-based diagramming tool that supports standard networking symbols, structured layouts, and high-resolution exports. It allows the network topology to be designed accurately without requiring paid software or advanced technical skills.
The software supports common networking components such as routers, switches, access points, servers, and client devices. It also allows clear labeling of IP addressing schemes, VLAN segmentation, and logical groupings. This makes draw.io suitable for both technical documentation and academic presentation, ensuring the network design can be easily understood by lecturers and non-technical readers alike.
Diagram Creation and Setup
A new network diagram was created using draw.io by selecting a blank canvas. This allows full control over layout and spacing, which is important when designing structured topologies such as hybrid star networks. Standard networking shape libraries were enabled to ensure consistency with industry symbols.
Topology Construction and Labeling
Networking devices such as the ISP cloud, router, core switch, access switches, wireless access points, and client PCs were added using the networking symbol library. Devices were connected using logical links to reflect actual data flow. VLAN groupings and functional zones were labeled clearly to improve readability and documentation quality.
Exporting and Integration into Blog
Once the network topology was finalized, the diagram was exported in high-resolution PNG format to preserve clarity and readability. The exported image was then embedded into the Blogger platform and accompanied by an explanatory caption. This ensures that the diagram aligns with the written network design description and supports academic evaluation.
